The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Director of Music, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of the music department. This is an opportunity to lead a dynamic team, deliver high-quality teaching, and drive performance excellence across all levels of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Director of Music in managing the day-to-day operations of the music department.
- Lead the instrumental lesson programme and manage the performance and welfare of music award holders.
- Provide high-level keyboard accompaniment for concerts, services, and exams.
- Coordinate the annual calendar of concerts, competitions, and drama collaborations.
- Teach a high-quality timetable across all age ranges, including A-level and Oxbridge preparation.
- Serve as a tutor within a boarding house and maintain a visible presence in the department.
- Oversee the recruitment, support, and professional development of a high-performing team of Visiting Music Teachers.
- Manage budgets for instrument maintenance and tuning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good honours degree in Music (postgraduate qualification desirable).
- Experience teaching academic music across Key Stages 3-5.
- Proven track record of professional performance as a conductor, instrumentalist, or singer.
- Experience in management within a similar school setting.
- Strong keyboard and accompaniment skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Experience in leading and managing teams of professionals.
- Experience in coordinating music tours and international events.
