The Opportunity:
As a Housemistress / Housemaster, you will lead the development of a new girls’ boarding house, creating a warm, ambitious, and inclusive environment for Sixth Form pupils. This is a unique opportunity to build a new community from the ground up and make a lasting impact on student lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the House team, ensuring a consistent standard of conduct and effective delegation.
- Establish a welcoming and cohesive culture aligned with the school’s Boarding Principles.
- Oversee the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of each pupil, offering targeted support.
- Provide expert guidance and support for pupils during the higher education transition process.
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Manage the House budget and ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools.
- Ensure the maintenance and safety of House facilities and manage all safeguarding records.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a boarding or pastoral role.
- Excellent academic qualifications and the ability to support high-achieving pupils.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrable experience in safeguarding and compliance with educational standards.
- Commitment to working flexibly, including night and weekend responsibilities.
Preferred
- Experience in managing a new boarding house or community development.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and pastoral care, particularly relating to girls.
- Experience in admissions and recruitment processes for boarding schools.
- Familiarity with higher education guidance and support.
