The Opportunity:

The Deputy Head of Academic will provide leadership and management of all academic matters, ensuring a culture of high expectations where every girl reaches her full potential. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic development and day-to-day operations of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional leadership and management of academic standards and policies.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in creating a climate of continuous improvement across all areas of school life.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of academic strategies to enhance student achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance, ensuring alignment with the school’s goals and values.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external stakeholders to promote academic excellence.
  • Ensure the effective management of academic resources and staff development.
  • Play a key role in the governance and leadership of the school.
  • Promote a culture of good manners, enrichment activities, and high academic standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong academic background and a deep understanding of curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a similar ethos or educational philosophy.
  • Familiarity with the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA).
  • Experience in strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in driving academic excellence and student outcomes.
