The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Pastoral, you will provide strategic leadership and management of the pastoral teams, ensuring a positive and secure environment for all students. This role is central to the school’s mission of fostering student wellbeing and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral teams to ensure a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school, including EYFS.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in driving continuous improvement across the school.
  • Develop and implement policies that promote student welfare, good behaviour, and engagement in enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to maintain high standards of care and support for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral care initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the school and its long-term vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • Experience in developing and implementing pastoral care strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting with a focus on student wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and curriculum.
  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a preparatory school.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of girls aged 4-11.
