The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Deputy Head of Academics to join our collaborative and forward-thinking team. This role is central to driving academic excellence and supporting the school’s mission to inspire and challenge students aged 4–11. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the academic direction of the school and fostering a culture of innovation and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the academic strategy, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and values.
  • Work closely with the Head of School to develop and implement policies that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance across the school, providing guidance and support to staff.
  • Promote a culture of professional development and continuous improvement among teaching and support staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality educational experience for all students.
  • Represent the school at external events and contribute to the wider educational community.
  • Support the development of a strong and inclusive school culture that values creativity, character and metacognition.
  • Oversee the management of the academic calendar and ensure smooth coordination across departments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an academic setting, preferably within a school environment.
  • Strong track record in driving academic excellence and supporting staff development.
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to work in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational institution.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching practices and technology in education.
  • Experience with leading professional development programs for teachers.
  • Background in a school that values character education and metacognitive learning.
