The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational teacher to take on the role of Deputy Head of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing department that consistently achieves outstanding results. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education and committed to raising student achievement and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support the Head of Science in the strategic development of the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of science staff and students.
  • Develop and implement an innovative and engaging science curriculum.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support the overall vision of the school.
  • Ensure effective use of resources and technology in science teaching.
  • Provide guidance and support to science teachers and students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in science education at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the science curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Commitment to student progress and enjoyment of learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom and other digital teaching tools.
  • Experience in sixth form teaching or leadership.
  • Track record of improving student outcomes in science.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
