The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and inspirational teacher to take on the role of Deputy Head of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing department that consistently achieves outstanding results. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education and committed to raising student achievement and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Support the Head of Science in the strategic development of the department.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of science staff and students.
- Develop and implement an innovative and engaging science curriculum.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support the overall vision of the school.
- Ensure effective use of resources and technology in science teaching.
- Provide guidance and support to science teachers and students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in science education at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
- Strong knowledge of the science curriculum and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Commitment to student progress and enjoyment of learning.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with Google Classroom and other digital teaching tools.
- Experience in sixth form teaching or leadership.
- Track record of improving student outcomes in science.
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
