About the School:

A school dedicated to providing a safe, supportive learning environment for students aged 11-19 who benefit from an alternative approach to mainstream education. It fosters resilience, self-confidence, and positive relationships through a broad curriculum and a student-centered ethos.

The Opportunity:

As a GCSE teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives by teaching small groups of up to six students. This role allows you to focus on individual needs, support emotional well-being, and help students achieve high GCSE results in a flexible and supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of GCSE subjects to small groups of students, ensuring high academic standards and personal development.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and mental health needs in line with the school's ethos and 4 As resilience programme.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that encourage self-confidence, autonomy, and positive relationships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide a tailored and inclusive learning experience.
  • Participate in the Duke of Edinburgh and outdoor activity programme to support student development beyond the classroom.
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Work flexibly across multiple sites, including the Post 16 provision 6Oaks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in GCSE teaching.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and the ability to support students with complex emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Experience in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching students with autism, speech and language difficulties, or dyslexia.
  • Familiarity with alternative provision settings and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience with the Duke of Edinburgh or outdoor education programmes.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of new curriculum initiatives.
