The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Deputy Head Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join our Senior Leadership Team during an exciting period of development. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically within a well-established and highly regarded Early Years environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Head Teacher in maintaining consistently high standards across safeguarding, EYFS provision, teaching, and learning.
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Nursery when required.
  • Act as Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) alongside the Head Teacher.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and deliver effective SEND provision as Nursery SENDCo.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning within the Rising 4s class with a reduced teaching commitment.
  • Support staff development and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the setting.
  • Ensure the school is prepared for inspections and meets all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant senior leadership experience within Early Years or primary education.
  • Strong expertise in EYFS teaching, curriculum leadership, and assessment practice.
  • Secure knowledge of safeguarding leadership and statutory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of SEND provision and inclusive practice.
  • Ability to lead staff with clarity, professionalism, and high expectations.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Deputy Head or Head role.
  • Familiarity with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025) and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Experience with curriculum development and staff training initiatives.
