The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher and Curriculum Lead, you will be instrumental in shaping an innovative and inclusive curriculum that empowers every pupil. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead with vision, collaborate with senior staff, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with autism and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of an inclusive, forward-thinking curriculum
  • Champion high-quality teaching and learning across the school
  • Mentor and inspire teachers to deliver outstanding, pupil-centred lessons
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of education provision to ensure continuous improvement
  • Promote a culture of care, ambition, and belonging through trauma-informed practice
  • Develop personalised learning pathways tailored to the strengths and needs of every pupil
  • Support the Headteacher in leadership and strategic decision-making
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree-level qualification
  • Proven senior leadership experience in a school setting
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum development and quality assurance
  • Experience supporting children with autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Commitment to inclusive, person-centred education
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Experience in a senior leadership role, such as Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher

Preferred

  • Experience in a specialist or SEN setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, therapeutic, or neurodiversity-affirming approaches
  • Flexibility to work across primary and secondary settings
  • Familiarity with inspection frameworks and school improvement planning
  • Emotionally intelligent and creative leadership style
