Strength and Conditioning Intern opportunity for University of Surrey students starting September 2026.

The Opportunity:

This Strength and Conditioning Internship offers a unique chance to support the Sports Department in delivering high-quality training sessions for student athletes. The role provides hands-on experience in a school that is a leader in female sport and education, with a strong commitment to professional development and student welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Strength and Conditioning coaches in planning and delivering on-field and gym-based training sessions.
  • Support PE staff in the development of sport-specific programs for athletes across various age groups.
  • Monitor and record athlete performance data to support individual and team development.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure training aligns with the school’s sporting and academic goals.
  • Participate in the organization and delivery of sports events and competitions.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and management of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Support the implementation of injury prevention and recovery programs.
  • Assist with athlete assessments and progress reviews.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a University of Surrey sport & exercise student.
  • Eligible for a Professional Training Year (PTY) placement.
  • Strong interest in sports science, strength and conditioning, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in strength and conditioning or sports coaching.
  • Knowledge of sports performance and athlete development.
  • Experience with fitness assessment and training program design.
  • Familiarity with sports injury prevention and recovery techniques.
