The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Headteacher - Behaviour and Personal Development, you will provide strategic leadership in shaping a positive and structured learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable young people through effective behaviour management, pastoral care, and personal development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for behaviour, attendance, and personal development across the school
  • Create and sustain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment that supports emotional regulation and positive learning
  • Lead and implement trauma-informed approaches to support pupils with SEMH needs
  • Monitor and analyse data on behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding to drive targeted interventions
  • Lead and develop the pastoral team with a consistent and relational approach
  • Oversee high-quality personal development, including PSHE, enrichment, and pupil voice
  • Ensure robust safeguarding systems are in place and promote a culture of care and vigilance
  • Support staff development through coaching and professional growth opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching and leadership within a SEMH setting
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive practice
  • Demonstrated ability to improve behaviour, attendance, or pastoral outcomes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in managing complex situations with a calm and solution-focused approach

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-agency working and alternative provision
  • Experience with pastoral care, therapeutic interventions, or counselling
  • Commitment to personal development and life skills education
  • Experience in school leadership or senior management roles
