The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head of Art and Photography to lead and inspire students in key stages 3 and 4. The role involves delivering an innovative curriculum that reflects the diverse needs of the student body and contributes to the school’s ongoing success in education and enrichment activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Art and Photography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and deliver an engaging and fully resourced curriculum across Art, Photography, Graphic Communications, and Performing Arts.
- Support student achievement through effective assessment, planning, and differentiation strategies.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community, reflecting the school’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Contribute to enrichment activities and extracurricular programs that enhance student experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support continuous professional development.
- Ensure the effective use of ICT to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Manage classroom environments effectively, promoting a positive and inclusive learning culture.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Art and Photography at key stages 3 and 4.
- Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Ability to assess and plan effectively to support student progress.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills.
- Understanding of the needs of a culturally diverse student population.
- Willingness to teach Graphic Communications at KS4.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with Performing Arts and Music.
- Experience with extra-curricular and enrichment activities.
- Confidence in using ICT to support teaching and learning.
- Experience in careers education or enterprise opportunities.
