Summary:

Learning Support Assistant needed immediately or September 2026. Support vulnerable students and contribute to inclusive education.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential. Working closely with the SEND team and within mainstream lessons, you will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters growth and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with additional needs in mainstream lessons and within the SEND team.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and students to create individualised learning plans.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Assist in the delivery of targeted interventions and one-to-one support sessions.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities to enhance support strategies.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through team events and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a learning support or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Flexibility to work term time only plus 5 days.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience in a Catholic or values-based educational setting.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
