The Opportunity:

As the Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in leading and shaping the school’s culture, behaviour, and safeguarding strategies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of whole-school behaviour policies aligned with the school’s values.
  • Monitor and evaluate behaviour systems to ensure fairness, consistency, and positive outcomes for students.
  • Oversee safeguarding practices, including acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and ensuring compliance with statutory guidance.
  • Coordinate alternative provision, supported transfers, and offsite directions where required.
  • Support staff development through coaching, performance management, and professional reflection.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Significant leadership experience in a secondary school.
  • Proven impact in improving behaviour, culture, and/or safeguarding outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing staff.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking.

Preferred

  • Experience as DSL or Deputy DSL.
  • NPQSL, NPQH or equivalent leadership qualification.
  • Experience contributing to inspection processes.
