The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the school, driving high-quality teaching, and ensuring a supportive learning environment for all students, particularly those with SEMH needs. This is an opportunity to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and school improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embedding a whole-school trauma-informed, relational approach to teaching, learning, and culture
  • Leading the development and implementation of an ambitious, inclusive, evidence-informed Quality of Education strategy
  • Overseeing curriculum design, sequencing, assessment, and high-impact teaching practice
  • Coaching and developing staff to secure consistently excellent classroom provision
  • Championing restorative behaviour, inclusion, and proactive approaches to bullying and discrimination
  • Managing SEMH tracking, interventions, and multi-agency support to remove barriers to learning
  • Working closely with the DSL to ensure robust, responsive, and pupil-centred safeguarding practices
  • Leading key operational systems (cover, transport, examinations) and contributing to whole-school improvement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required
  • Strong knowledge of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive pedagogy
  • Experience leading behaviour, pastoral, or curriculum systems
  • Analytical, organised, and driven by values
  • A leader who inspires trust, builds relationships, and raises standards

Preferred

  • NPQSL / NPQH (or working towards)
  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision
  • Knowledge of behaviour or curriculum tracking system
