The Opportunity:

As an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), you will play a vital role in providing targeted academic and emotional support to students in Year 3–11. You will work closely with senior leadership to create a safe, supportive, and confidential environment that promotes the emotional and social development of pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted academic and emotional support to students in Year 3–11.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Senior School and Wellbeing and the Head of the Junior School.
  • Create a safe and confidential space for students to explore and develop emotional literacy.
  • Support students in building confidence, resilience, and social skills.
  • Deliver structured interventions and emotional literacy programmes.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust support as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records and communicate regularly with relevant staff.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified and experienced ELSA or relevant professional experience in child mental health, wellbeing, pastoral care, or SEND.
  • Experience working with children and supporting their emotional and social development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of emotional literacy frameworks and support strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral care programmes.
  • Experience with students in a range of age groups.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £23,140 to £25,630 per annum (FTE £29,340 to £32,500 pa).
  • 35 hours per week, term time plus 3 days.
  • Potential for extension to a permanent position.
