The Opportunity:
As Deputy Headteacher, you will lead inclusion and SEND provision across the school, shaping the future of both the newly opened Enhanced Mainstream Resource Provision and the ongoing development of Connect. This is a strategic role with a strong focus on whole-school improvement and inclusive practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop inclusive education strategies, with a specific focus on SEND provision and personalised learning
- Oversee the Enhanced Mainstream Resource Provision and internal alternative provision (Connect)
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and decision-making as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Coach, develop and line manage staff, including the Associate Assistant Headteacher and SENDCO team
- Fulfil Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities
- Deputise for the Headteacher when required
- Implement and monitor policies that support the well-being and academic progress of all students
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven senior leadership experience
- Expert knowledge of SEND, with NPQ SENCO / NASENCO qualification or working towards this
- A track record of improving outcomes for learners with additional needs
- Strong ability to inspire, motivate and challenge others to deliver excellence
- Strategic, reflective and resilient approach to leadership
Preferred
- Experience in leading inclusion initiatives at a whole-school level
- Background in alternative provision or resource provision
- Experience with school improvement and Ofsted standards
- Familiarity with the work of Ark Schools and Pontefract Academies Trust
