The Opportunity:
As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress. You will work closely with students, staff, and parents to ensure a positive learning environment and help students thrive both emotionally and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and raise attendance, behaviour, and pastoral standards
- Deliver support programmes and interventions to improve student outcomes
- Work with staff, parents, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning
- Maintain accurate records and use data to monitor student progress
- Lead and deliver enrichment activities that promote student engagement
- Contribute to the strategic development of whole-school pastoral strategies
- Act as a visible role model and promote positive student conduct
- Support the implementation of the school’s pastoral systems and interventions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or student support role
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to manage challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
- Organised and resilient with the ability to use initiative and sound judgement
- Commitment to inclusion, student wellbeing, and high expectations
Preferred
- Experience in youth work or education support
- Leadership experience or an interest in pastoral leadership
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusion practices
