The Opportunity:

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress. You will work closely with students, staff, and parents to ensure a positive learning environment and help students thrive both emotionally and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and raise attendance, behaviour, and pastoral standards
  • Deliver support programmes and interventions to improve student outcomes
  • Work with staff, parents, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning
  • Maintain accurate records and use data to monitor student progress
  • Lead and deliver enrichment activities that promote student engagement
  • Contribute to the strategic development of whole-school pastoral strategies
  • Act as a visible role model and promote positive student conduct
  • Support the implementation of the school’s pastoral systems and interventions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or student support role
  • Strong communication skills with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Organised and resilient with the ability to use initiative and sound judgement
  • Commitment to inclusion, student wellbeing, and high expectations

Preferred

  • Experience in youth work or education support
  • Leadership experience or an interest in pastoral leadership
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusion practices
