The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher KS4, you will provide strategic leadership for Key Stage 4, ensuring high standards in achievement, curriculum delivery, and public examinations. You will play a key role in shaping the school’s culture, wellbeing, and ethos, while contributing to the overall leadership of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the strategic direction of Key Stage 4, ensuring high standards in achievement and outcomes for all students.
  • Implement and review whole-school policies, contributing to the development of the school’s vision and mission.
  • Deputise for the Head of School when required, supporting the smooth running of the school.
  • Lead the design and delivery of a high-quality, ambitious Key Stage 4 curriculum across all subjects.
  • Ensure effective delivery of public examinations and evaluate the impact of raising standards strategies.
  • Promote the school’s values, including the Swanlea Way and Fundamental British Values, across Key Stage 4.
  • Oversee personal development and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring all students are well supported and prepared for their future.
  • Manage Assistant Heads, Heads of Faculty, and Learning Coordinators, contributing to staff development and training.
  • Participate in selection processes for teaching and support staff, and attend Governing Body meetings as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior leadership within a school setting, preferably at Key Stage 4.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and raising standards in achievement.
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading personal development and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the Swanlea Way and Fundamental British Values.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or federation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in public examinations and assessment strategies.
