The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and complex needs across the school. You will assist with teaching, learning, and personal care, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people in the classroom and during learning activities
- Assist with personal care where needed in a respectful and sensitive manner
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Support teachers in organizing and delivering lessons and activities
- Maintain positive and respectful relationships with parents and carers
- Ensure all school policies and procedures are followed consistently
- Work collaboratively with staff across multiple sites and settings
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and rights-respecting environment for all students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexibly and independently in a dynamic environment
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check
Preferred
- Experience in a special school or similar educational setting
- Knowledge of autism and related communication difficulties
- Experience with sensory and therapeutic interventions
- Familiarity with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Previous experience in supporting students with complex needs
