The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism and complex needs across the school. You will assist with teaching, learning, and personal care, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people in the classroom and during learning activities
  • Assist with personal care where needed in a respectful and sensitive manner
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
  • Support teachers in organizing and delivering lessons and activities
  • Maintain positive and respectful relationships with parents and carers
  • Ensure all school policies and procedures are followed consistently
  • Work collaboratively with staff across multiple sites and settings
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and rights-respecting environment for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check

Preferred

  • Experience in a special school or similar educational setting
  • Knowledge of autism and related communication difficulties
  • Experience with sensory and therapeutic interventions
  • Familiarity with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
  • Previous experience in supporting students with complex needs
