The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping students’ love for literature and language. You will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5, supporting students of all abilities, and contribute to a dynamic curriculum that explores diverse texts and genres. You will also be involved in enrichment activities and the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that foster a love of reading and writing.
  • Support students of all abilities, including those with additional needs, to achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive English curriculum.
  • Participate in enrichment activities, such as literary events and school-wide celebrations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching and learning across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with developments in English education and share best practices.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to support student learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in English education.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in planning and delivering lessons to students across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities such as drama, debate, or literature clubs.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and supporting students with diverse needs.
