The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher - Pastoral Care, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s pastoral care strategy. This is a leadership position that impacts the well-being, engagement, and success of all students. You will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers learners to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s pastoral care framework, ensuring it aligns with the school’s values and vision.
  • Oversee the implementation of relational practices that foster trust, support, and positive relationships between students and staff.
  • Monitor and manage attendance, behavior, and engagement, using data to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
  • Design and deliver high-impact pastoral interventions that support student well-being and academic progress.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure a cohesive approach to pastoral and academic outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, diversity, and respect across the school community.
  • Support staff in developing their pastoral and leadership skills through professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure all pastoral strategies are aligned with the school’s mission and Ofsted standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, preferably in pastoral care or student support.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and behavior management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in using data to drive decision-making and improve outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a similar ethos or values-based approach to education.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, particularly in the area of pastoral and personal development.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and leadership growth.
