The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral) to lead and shape the pastoral care of boys in a high-achieving, supportive environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the well-being and development of young people while contributing to the strategic direction of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the pastoral care of boys in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Act as the first point of contact for parents, staff, and boys regarding pastoral matters
  • Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the welfare and safety of all students
  • Develop and implement Pupil Voice initiatives to empower students and drive positive change
  • Promote community engagement and ensure boys have opportunities to participate in local and wider events
  • Chair and manage the school council, overseeing the implementation of student proposals
  • Develop and maintain the school’s behaviour policy and ensure consistent implementation
  • Oversee the school’s behaviour log and report regularly to the Head and Governors
  • Manage the Health and Safety committee and ensure compliance with all safety protocols
  • Deliver a minimum of 60% teaching across the school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status with experience in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of pastoral care and school operations
  • Experience managing compliance processes in a busy educational setting
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills with pupils, parents, and staff
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of school life
  • A collaborative team player with emotional awareness and a good sense of humour

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading pastoral programmes
  • Background in safeguarding and online safety
  • Experience in school governance or strategic development
