The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable students through personalized, one-to-one or small group assistance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistent support to help students focus, engage, and complete tasks
  • Support students in assessments and learning tools such as GL Assessment and Accelerated Reader
  • Build positive, trusting relationships through clear boundaries, encouragement, and active listening
  • Share observations and feedback with parents and school staff to support student progress
  • Work with therapists to implement strategies aligned with EHCP outcomes
  • Plan and prepare project work using a range of resources, including community learning opportunities
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures and health and safety expectations are followed at all times

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar support role, such as SEN, SEMH, or residential childcare
  • Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
  • Ability to build rapport and provide assertive, supportive challenge
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including potential for physical interventions
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare

Preferred

  • Experience with therapeutic strategies and EHCP implementation
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a proactive approach to working with young people
  • Experience in educational or community-based settings
