The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable students through personalized, one-to-one or small group assistance. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent support to help students focus, engage, and complete tasks
- Support students in assessments and learning tools such as GL Assessment and Accelerated Reader
- Build positive, trusting relationships through clear boundaries, encouragement, and active listening
- Share observations and feedback with parents and school staff to support student progress
- Work with therapists to implement strategies aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Plan and prepare project work using a range of resources, including community learning opportunities
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures and health and safety expectations are followed at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar support role, such as SEN, SEMH, or residential childcare
- Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
- Ability to build rapport and provide assertive, supportive challenge
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including potential for physical interventions
- Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare
Preferred
- Experience with therapeutic strategies and EHCP implementation
- Flexibility, creativity, and a proactive approach to working with young people
- Experience in educational or community-based settings
