The Opportunity:

As a Deputy SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy and provision
  • Maintain and contribute to an accurate SEND register and provision map
  • Advise and support colleagues on effective teaching strategies and the graduated approach to SEND support
  • Lead and evaluate intervention programmes to improve outcomes for students with SEND
  • Analyse data to monitor progress and inform provision planning
  • Work closely with external agencies, parents/carers, and the local authority to support student needs
  • Support Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and reviews
  • Promote inclusive practice and equal opportunities across the school
  • Support the line management and development of teaching assistants

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher (QTS) with experience of delivering high-quality, inclusive classroom practice
  • Strong subject teaching experience in Art, Maths, Geography, Design Technology/Food or IT
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its practical application in schools
  • Ability to identify, plan, deliver and evaluate interventions, maintaining accurate and effective records
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and securing positive outcomes for students with SEN or disabilities
  • Ability to analyse data and use it to inform provision and drive progress
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Experience in an urban educational setting
  • Experience with Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes
  • Experience in staff training and CPD delivery
