The Opportunity:

As a Deputy SENDCo, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs across Years 7 to 13. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners in one of the UK’s leading independent schools. You will work closely with the SENDCo and Learning Support Assistants to provide tailored support and create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs across KS3, GCSE, and A Level.
  • Collaborate with the SENDCo and Learning Support Assistants to deliver individualized learning plans.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students’ academic and personal development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure effective collaboration and consistent support for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies and make necessary adjustments.
  • Participate in the school’s co-curriculum and enrichment activities.
  • Uphold the school’s values of diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in learning support, ideally within an independent or maintained school.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and the ability to support students across all key stages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the well-being and safeguarding of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior or leadership role within learning support.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and curriculum design.
  • Familiarity with the latest resources and technologies used in learning support.
  • Passion for enrichment and extension activities.
  • Experience with the school’s values and ethos, including diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
