The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dedicated Management Accountant to support the Finance team in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role is central to the school’s financial health and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain accurate financial systems and controls for the school.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports, including the annual report and accounts.
• Oversee VAT reporting and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
• Maintain the nominal ledger and ensure its accuracy and completeness.
• Support the Head of Finance and Finance Director in financial decision-making processes.
• Assist with the preparation of the Charity Commission annual return.
• Provide cover and support across all areas within the Finance Department.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the effective operation of the finance function.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Qualified accountant with relevant professional experience.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and compliance procedures.
• Experience in management accounting and VAT reporting.
• Knowledge of financial systems and controls.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

• Experience in the education sector or within a similar organisation.
• Familiarity with charity financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
