The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a dedicated Management Accountant to support the Finance team in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role is central to the school’s financial health and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accurate financial systems and controls for the school.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports, including the annual report and accounts.
- Oversee VAT reporting and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
- Maintain the nominal ledger and ensure its accuracy and completeness.
- Support the Head of Finance and Finance Director in financial decision-making processes.
- Assist with the preparation of the Charity Commission annual return.
- Provide cover and support across all areas within the Finance Department.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the effective operation of the finance function.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified accountant with relevant professional experience.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and compliance procedures.
- Experience in management accounting and VAT reporting.
- Knowledge of financial systems and controls.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in the education sector or within a similar organisation.
- Familiarity with charity financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
