The Opportunity:

As a Deputy SENDCo, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs across early years and key stages. You will contribute to the development and implementation of individual education plans, provide guidance to colleagues, and work closely with parents and external agencies to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver targeted interventions for students with special educational needs.
  • Develop, implement, and review individual education plans in collaboration with teaching staff and external agencies.
  • Support the EHCP process and provide professional guidance to colleagues on SEND-related matters.
  • Liaise with parents and external agencies to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Follow up on children raised as a 'cause for concern' and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s SEND policy and provision.
  • Attend meetings with parents, staff, and external professionals to discuss student progress and needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience working with children with special educational needs in a primary setting.
  • Up-to-date understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in designing and delivering targeted interventions.
  • Experience with the EHCP process.
  • Experience in supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Experience in professional development and mentoring colleagues.
