The Opportunity:

A Design and Technology Teacher is needed to deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that inspire creativity and build confidence in students. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people through practical, supportive teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical Design & Technology and/or Art lessons
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of students with SEN and additional barriers to learning
  • Encourage creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving through practical activities
  • Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils
  • Support students’ confidence, resilience, and independence in learning
  • Contribute positively to the ethos and wider life of the school
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised working environment in practical spaces
  • Follow all health and safety and safeguarding procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Degree in Design & Technology, Art, or a related subject
  • Experience teaching DT, Art, or practical creative subjects
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Experience or interest in working with SEN students, alternative provision or post-16 learners

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Background in curriculum development or special education
