The Opportunity:

As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons to students aged 11–16 and potentially post-16, using primary teaching approaches to support secondary-aged learners. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping students succeed through creativity, adaptability, and high expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of students aged 11–16 and potentially post-16
  • Use creative and flexible teaching strategies to support students with SEN and additional learning barriers
  • Set high expectations that motivate and challenge students
  • Adapt learning to meet individual needs and learning styles
  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress effectively
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence in learning
  • Contribute positively to the ethos and wider life of the school
  • Support enrichment opportunities, activities and student development
  • Promote the safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour of all pupils
  • Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (desirable, but not essential as training can be arranged)
  • Primary teaching experience or training
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience or interest in working with SEN students, alternative provision or post-16 learners
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality and the values of the school

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with complex needs
  • Background in alternative provision or post-16 education
  • Demonstrated ability to support students with mental health needs
  • Experience in creating individualised learning pathways
