The Opportunity:
As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons to students aged 11–16 and potentially post-16, using primary teaching approaches to support secondary-aged learners. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping students succeed through creativity, adaptability, and high expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of students aged 11–16 and potentially post-16
- Use creative and flexible teaching strategies to support students with SEN and additional learning barriers
- Set high expectations that motivate and challenge students
- Adapt learning to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress effectively
- Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
- Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence in learning
- Contribute positively to the ethos and wider life of the school
- Support enrichment opportunities, activities and student development
- Promote the safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour of all pupils
- Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (desirable, but not essential as training can be arranged)
- Primary teaching experience or training
- Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience or interest in working with SEN students, alternative provision or post-16 learners
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and the values of the school
Preferred
- Experience in working with students with complex needs
- Background in alternative provision or post-16 education
- Demonstrated ability to support students with mental health needs
- Experience in creating individualised learning pathways
