Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-quality, engaging curriculum in Design and Technology with a focus on Food Technology.
  • Monitor and support the progress and development of students, both academically and personally.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, resources, and syllabuses that align with curriculum requirements.
  • Contribute to departmental planning and ensure the quality of teaching and learning across the subject area.
  • Support the pastoral care system by acting as a form tutor to a group of students.
  • Foster a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Proven experience teaching at secondary level, ideally in a multi-ethnic urban setting and in an 11-18 school.
  • Strong understanding of National Curriculum requirements at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Excellent knowledge of teaching and learning strategies, with the ability to create engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to manage and lead your own work effectively, with strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of ICT, including interactive teaching tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in Food Technology or related specialisms.
  • Experience in curriculum development and resource creation.
  • Experience in pastoral care or form tutoring.
  • Experience in professional development and leadership within a school setting.
