Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Modern Foreign Languages up to Key Stage 4, with experience in Key Stage 5 being an advantage.
  • Contribute to departmental activities, including extra-curricular events, revision sessions, and open days.
  • Support the efficient running of the department through examination setting, marking, and administrative tasks.
  • Continue to raise the standards of teaching and learning within the department and across the school.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to the school’s Professional Growth Programme.
  • Promote high levels of academic language and cultural awareness among students.
  • Uphold high behavioural standards in lessons and across the school.
  • Prepare and use appropriate resources to enhance student learning.
  • Liaise with support staff to provide effective provision for students with diverse needs.
  • Undertake the role of form tutor and support the school’s safeguarding policies.
  • Fulfil any additional duties as required by the Headteacher.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold an appropriate teaching certificate and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Hold a recognised degree (or equivalent) with a good classification in a relevant subject.
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 4.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Detailed knowledge of current curriculum and pedagogical developments.
  • Ability to teach up to Key Stage 4.
  • Commitment to promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Flexible approach to teaching that supports all students.
  • Effective approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong classroom practice and communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities.
