The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and organised Design and Technology Technician to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the delivery of high-quality education by maintaining resources and preparing materials. The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant learning environment and play a key role in the Design and Technology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Design and Technology department in the delivery of teaching by maintaining stock and preparing resources.
  • Clean and clear away lesson materials as directed by teaching staff and departmental needs.
  • Ensure all machinery is safe and ready for use, adhering to DATA certification standards.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to meet the needs of the timetable and departmental requirements.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient working environment within the Design and Technology classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of practical learning activities.
  • Ensure all equipment is stored and maintained to a high standard.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional working culture within the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience of working within a Design and Technology classroom or willingness to learn.
  • DATA certification for the machinery used in the school – can be arranged as part of employment if not already in possession.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player with a good sense of humour.
  • Flexibility to work term-time only, 38 working weeks per year.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a similar technician or support role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of design and technology curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Experience with health and safety standards in a school environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
