The Opportunity:

As Head of KS5 Maths, you will lead and inspire a high-achieving maths department, ensuring students achieve outstanding results through effective teaching, assessment, and intervention strategies. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of maths education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the KS5 maths department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
  • Develop and implement a maths mastery programme aligned with Ark’s curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for intervention and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching methods and learning resources.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for maths staff within the department and across the Ark network.
  • Ensure effective behaviour management and a positive learning environment for all students.
  • Work closely with other staff to support the safety, wellbeing, and academic success of students.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s wider curriculum and pastoral strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Head of Department or in a senior leadership role within a maths department.
  • Outstanding teaching experience with a track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of KS5 maths curricula and assessment requirements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Effective behaviour management skills with a clear understanding of student needs and support strategies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Preferred

  • Experience in implementing maths mastery programmes or similar curricula.
  • Experience working within the Ark network or similar multi-academy trusts.
  • Strong experience in data analysis and tracking student progress.
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development programmes for staff.
  • Passion for maths education and a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
