Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in Design & Technology and Engineering across the IB Middle Years Programme and GCSE/BTEC pathways.
  • Create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with SEND, through inclusive teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school and MAT network to share best practices and enhance teaching quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and integrate digital tools into lesson planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s digital strategy and ensure all students and staff have access to modern technology.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities through the Leigh Institute and other Trust-wide initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and inclusion within the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Design & Technology and Engineering.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging, hands-on lessons.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Experience working within the IB framework or a willingness to learn about it.

Preferred

  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate framework.
  • Background in inquiry-based learning or project-based teaching approaches.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and strategies for teaching and learning.
  • Experience in collaborative professional development or cross-school training initiatives.
