The Opportunity:

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will inspire and engage students through hands-on, practical learning focused on product design. You will play a vital role in helping students develop creativity, confidence, and essential life skills in a supportive and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and practical lessons in Design Technology with a focus on product design
  • Support students with special educational needs and mental health challenges to access learning and achieve positive outcomes
  • Foster creativity, problem-solving, and independence through hands-on learning experiences
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a dynamic and growing school community
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that meet the diverse needs of students
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student well-being and engagement
  • Participate in safeguarding and professional development training as required
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in Design Technology education

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology, particularly product design
  • Experience delivering practical, hands-on lessons
  • Confidence working with students with special educational needs and mental health needs
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond for students

Preferred

  • Experience in alternative provision or special needs education
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies
  • Experience with vocational qualifications or GCSE/A-level curriculum delivery
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare
