The Opportunity:
As a Humanities Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of students with complex needs. You will deliver engaging lessons in subjects such as History and Geography, using creative and flexible approaches to support students in achieving their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured humanities lessons aligned with the curriculum
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEN and additional barriers to learning
- Set high expectations that motivate and challenge pupils to achieve their best
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress effectively
- Encourage curiosity, discussion, and critical thinking in humanities subjects
- Build strong and positive relationships with pupils
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Contribute positively to the ethos and wider life of the school
- Promote the safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour of all pupils
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree in a Humanities-related subject
- Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience or interest in working with SEN students, alternative provision or post-16 learners
Preferred
- Experience with safeguarding procedures
- Commitment to equality and inclusion
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and support colleagues
