The Opportunity:
As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students through physical activity and mentorship. This position is ideal for someone passionate about using sport to foster personal development and wellbeing in young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students through structured sports and physical activity sessions.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to help students achieve personal goals.
- Plan and deliver outcome-focused sports and Zones of Regulation interventions.
- Support students during periods of dysregulation and help them return to calm.
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff and SENCO to ensure student needs are met.
- Assist teaching staff in delivering Sports lessons and other subject areas when required.
- Develop sporting opportunities in the local community to enhance student engagement.
- Create and implement school-specific mentoring programmes tailored to student needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships and act as a trusted role model.
- Confidence in supporting students during dysregulation and delivering interventions.
- Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in sports teaching or mentoring.
- Knowledge of Zones of Regulation or similar behaviour management frameworks.
- Previous experience in developing and delivering sports-based interventions.
- Familiarity with alternative education settings or special needs support.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £22,601 to £25,194, depending on experience.
- Term-time only working hours (39 weeks including 5 inset days).
