The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and mental health challenges. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning, manage their emotional and behavioural needs, and develop confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in and out of the classroom to access learning and manage emotional and behavioural needs.
- Assist in the delivery of lessons and provide one-to-one support where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being on a regular basis.
- Help students develop life skills, confidence, and resilience through structured activities and support.
- Participate in planning and reviewing individual learning plans tailored to student needs.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to working with students with special educational needs and mental health challenges.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
- High level of patience, resilience, and determination.
- Willingness to go above and beyond to support students.
Preferred
- Previous experience in education, youth work, or a similar setting.
- Experience working with students with special educational needs or mental health needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices.
- Experience in creating and implementing individual learning plans.
