Summary:

Development Manager needed to lead capital projects and estate improvements at a school.

The Opportunity:

As a Development Manager, you will lead the delivery of capital development and estate improvement projects across a multi-campus environment. This role is critical to transforming learning spaces and ensuring the school continues to provide high-quality, safe, and sustainable education environments for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of capital development and estate improvement projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective design development, procurement, and construction.
  • Oversee project budgets, programmes, risks, and reporting to ensure projects meet cost, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with planning, building regulations, procurement requirements, and health & safety legislation.
  • Maintain strong communication across campuses and with external partners to ensure project requirements are understood and delivered.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, funding submissions, governance papers, and reporting.
  • Contribute to wider managerial responsibilities including duty manager rota, enrolment support, and exam invigilation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant degree or equivalent in development, construction, architecture, engineering, surveying, or project management.
  • Professional membership such as RICS, CIOB, APM, or CIAT.
  • Experience delivering capital projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Strong project leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, procurement, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred

  • Experience working with consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams in the education or public sector.
  • Understanding of government-funded programmes and their requirements.
  • Experience in managing complex projects in a multi-campus environment.
