The Opportunity:

The Director of Dance will lead and develop a thriving dance programme that spans both academic and co-curricular offerings. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate dance specialist who is eager to inspire and mentor students at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of Dance at GCSE and A Level, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Teach curriculum dance across the school and support students in achieving excellent results.
  • Develop and manage a variety of co-curricular dance clubs and activities, including Contemporary, Street Dance, and other styles.
  • Play an active role in school productions, including on evenings and weekends.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Performing Arts department to enhance the overall programme.
  • Support the development of student confidence, creativity, and performance skills.
  • Ensure the programme aligns with the school's mission and educational goals.
  • Promote the value of dance and its contribution to a well-rounded education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a specialist in Contemporary Dance.
  • Strong teaching experience at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Ability to deliver curriculum dance across all year groups.
  • Experience in leading and managing co-curricular dance activities.
  • Commitment to working outside of normal hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in school productions or theatre work.
  • Knowledge of a range of dance styles, including Street Dance and other genres.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student mentorship.
  • Background in education leadership or curriculum development.
