Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department with a clear vision for academic excellence.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative English curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Support and mentor teachers within the department to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Oversee the assessment and progression of students across all key stages.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded educational experience.

  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities to support teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, ideally as a Head of Department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for literature and language.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with diverse needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school undergoing expansion or transformation.
  • Familiarity with international curricula or teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in leading departments through periods of growth and development.
  • Strong understanding of pastoral care and student well-being.
