The Opportunity:

As the Director of Design and Technology, you will lead the strategic development of D&T across multiple schools, shaping the future of technical education. This is a high-impact role for a visionary leader who can drive innovation and ensure all students are equipped for success in a rapidly changing world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a cohesive Trust-wide strategy for Design and Technology that removes barriers to learning.
  • Lead a progressive curriculum that builds technical confidence from Primary through to A-Level.
  • Oversee Health & Safety standards (DATA/CLEAPSS) and resource management across all Trust workshops and kitchens.
  • Mentor and coach staff, lead Trust-wide CPD, and foster a culture of high expectations.
  • Take full accountability for raising standards, particularly in NEA (Non-Exam Assessment) and vocational pathways.
  • Model outstanding teaching and drive innovation in CAD/CAM and STEM.
  • Ensure that every student, regardless of background, has the tools to become the designers and engineers of tomorrow.
  • Lead a team of dedicated teachers and technicians across multiple school sites.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven track record of exceptional results in Design and Technology or Engineering
  • Experience in leading a department or team of teachers and technicians
  • Expertise in Health & Safety standards (DATA/CLEAPSS)
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and delivery from KS1 to KS5

Preferred

  • Proficiency in modern manufacturing techniques such as CAD/CAM and 3D printing
  • Experience in leading Trust-wide CPD and staff development initiatives
  • A design thinking mindset and passion for innovation and technical excellence
  • Experience working in a Multi-Academy Trust or similar educational setting
