The Opportunity:
As Lead Practitioner in Numeracy, you will drive the school’s numeracy strategy and ensure consistent, effective embedding of numeracy across all phases. This role is central to shaping a strong, inclusive curriculum that prepares students for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and refine the school’s whole-school numeracy strategy across ages 2–16
- Ensure a well-sequenced, coherent numeracy curriculum that builds cumulatively over time
- Model outstanding teaching, including GCSE Mathematics (Higher Tier)
- Support colleagues to embed numeracy across subjects, improving pupils’ ability to access and interpret numerical information
- Use assessment intelligently to identify gaps, inform intervention and demonstrate impact
- Work closely with the SENCO and inclusion teams to ensure all pupils can succeed
- Lead high-quality CPD, coaching, and professional development linked to numeracy pedagogy
- Contribute to self-evaluation and improvement planning in line with Ofsted expectations
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree (e.g., Mathematics or a related subject) and QTS
- At least 3 years’ teaching experience, including recent successful teaching of GCSE Mathematics at Higher Tier
- Strong subject knowledge and a proven track record of improving outcomes
- Ability to lead, influence and inspire colleagues through exemplary practice
- Secure understanding of curriculum design, assessment and inclusive teaching
- Commitment to equity, excellence and ensuring all pupils achieve highly, regardless of starting point
Preferred
- Experience of working across phases or in an all-through setting
