The Opportunity:

As Director of Development, you will lead the school’s fundraising strategy, with a focus on major gifts, bursary support, and future capital development. This is a strategic and relationship-driven role that requires strong leadership, communication, and fundraising skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with the school’s vision and goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, alumni, and key supporters, including leading major gift initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage the Development Office, ensuring effective team performance and collaboration.
  • Deliver high-quality stewardship and engagement activities for donors and stakeholders.
  • Lead alumni engagement initiatives and development communications.
  • Prepare and support the school for future capital development projects.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, including the Principal, to ensure alignment and strategic impact.
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising and development best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in fundraising, with a strong track record in securing major gifts.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a senior development or fundraising role.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing a small team and overseeing development operations.
  • Strategic thinking and planning ability, with the capacity to deliver long-term fundraising goals.

Preferred

  • Experience in the education sector or within independent schools.
  • Familiarity with philanthropy, bursary programs, and capital fundraising.
  • Knowledge of development communications and alumni engagement strategies.
  • Experience in preparing and supporting capital campaigns.
