The Opportunity:
As the Director of Drama, you will play a key role in shaping the school’s performing arts programme. You will direct two productions annually and support students in all aspects of theatre production, from stage to backstage. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on students and contribute to a thriving drama department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct two productions per year, ensuring high-quality performances and creative engagement.
- Collaborate with theatre staff to mentor and support student stage crews.
- Promote and uphold the school’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and complete required training.
- Support the development of drama activities, including clubs, workshops, and outreach programs.
- Encourage student participation in all areas of theatre, including performance, design, and technical roles.
- Work closely with the drama department to enhance the school’s theatre programme and productions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in drama education and performance.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in directing theatre productions.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
- Experience in working with young people in an educational setting.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching drama or LAMDA.
- Knowledge of theatre production processes and technical theatre.
- Experience in curriculum development and drama education.
- Familiarity with educational theatre awards and competitions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
