The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will lead and support a year group team, playing a key role in student behaviour and pastoral care. You will work closely with families and carers to ensure students overcome obstacles to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a year group team, providing guidance and support to staff and students.
  • Support students with their behaviour and pastoral needs, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with families and carers to address challenges and support student progress.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and student wellbeing.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and engagement.
  • Organise and lead pastoral events and activities that enhance student experience.
  • Provide professional guidance and support to students and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of school-wide pastoral policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience in supporting students with behavioural and pastoral needs.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong focus on pastoral care and student support.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in working with families and carers.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Experience in managing and leading large year groups.
