The Opportunity:
As a Head of Year, you will lead and support a year group team, playing a key role in student behaviour and pastoral care. You will work closely with families and carers to ensure students overcome obstacles to learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a year group team, providing guidance and support to staff and students.
- Support students with their behaviour and pastoral needs, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with families and carers to address challenges and support student progress.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and student wellbeing.
- Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and engagement.
- Organise and lead pastoral events and activities that enhance student experience.
- Provide professional guidance and support to students and colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide pastoral policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
- Experience in supporting students with behavioural and pastoral needs.
- Commitment to student welfare and academic success.
Preferred
- Experience in a school with a strong focus on pastoral care and student support.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Experience in working with families and carers.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
- Experience in managing and leading large year groups.
