The Opportunity:

As a Director of Learning - Computer Science, you will lead the development of a high-quality, engaging curriculum that empowers students to excel in Computer Science. This role is ideal for an experienced educator looking to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and drive academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a dynamic Computer Science curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Lead and support a team of teachers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to shape school-wide strategies for academic success.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff within the faculty.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s leadership specialism and core values.
  • Promote and support the school’s mission of inspiring young people to become successful leaders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven ability to teach to GCSE standard in Computer Science
  • Experience in leading a faculty and driving improvements in student outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate colleagues to achieve targets
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Commitment to educational excellence and student success

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum development and innovation
  • Experience with leadership programmes and character development
  • Familiarity with the Star Academies network and values
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust environment
