The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will lead the development of inclusive practices and support students with SEND to reach their full potential. This is a pivotal role in shaping a school-wide approach to special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage high-quality provision for students with SEND across the school
  • Support the implementation and development of the school’s SEND strategy and inclusive practice
  • Oversee assessment, identification, intervention and review processes for students with SEND
  • Ensure EHCPs and SEND support plans are implemented effectively and reviewed in line with statutory requirements
  • Lead, support and develop members of the SEND team, including HLTAs and Teaching Assistants
  • Deliver and coordinate SEND training and support for teaching and support staff
  • Monitor student progress and evaluate the impact of SEND interventions and provision
  • Work collaboratively with families, external agencies and wider school teams to support student outcomes

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENDCO) / NPQ SENDCo, or willingness to complete within three years
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education within a mainstream setting
  • Experience working with students with SEND and coordinating effective support and interventions
  • Experience working collaboratively with external professionals and agencies
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
