The Opportunity:

As the Director of Learning - Social Sciences, you will lead and support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology. This role is essential to maintaining the school's commitment to excellence and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the curriculum development and delivery in Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.
  • Manage and develop the teaching team, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment across the Social Sciences curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience for students.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to support the school’s mission of "Excellence for All."
  • Support the implementation of the school’s strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading and managing a curriculum area in a school setting.
  • Ability to teach two of the following subjects to A-Level: Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in educational leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive improvement in student outcomes and attainment.
  • Experience in working within a multi-ethnic, coeducational environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school that is part of an educational trust or multi-academy trust.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience in leading professional development and training for teaching staff.
  • Experience in working with external partners and stakeholders.
