The Opportunity:
As the Director of Learning - Social Sciences, you will lead and support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology. This role is essential to maintaining the school's commitment to excellence and student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the curriculum development and delivery in Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Manage and develop the teaching team, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment across the Social Sciences curriculum.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience for students.
- Provide leadership and guidance to support the school’s mission of "Excellence for All."
- Support the implementation of the school’s strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices.
- Work closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading and managing a curriculum area in a school setting.
- Ability to teach two of the following subjects to A-Level: Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in educational leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvement in student outcomes and attainment.
- Experience in working within a multi-ethnic, coeducational environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a school that is part of an educational trust or multi-academy trust.
- Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
- Experience in leading professional development and training for teaching staff.
- Experience in working with external partners and stakeholders.
